A career woman is defined as a woman who has desire to have a great job, she is usually college graduate and would like to use her skill and show it up by getting a career. And as we all know that nowadays women are acknowledged have the same right with men, getting great job and even there are some women who also could be leader in some organizations. In modern life, women as people who could do the same thing as men somehow some people believe it is not good to have female leader because they usually use their feelings more than their logical mind. However some people still assume that women’s roles are just stay at home, take care of her family, her kids, and another else related to housekeeping. There is no rule for women not to get high education. That is why after graduating they want to use their skill and compete with men to get jobs. Besides that women also have rights to work because there are a lot of talented women and the world is sure that they can compete with men and do the same thing. There are also a lot of women who are in two roles, as career person and also as mothers. It will be going on since they can make them balance in their lives.
First reason why women should have rights to work is because nowadays female and male are equal. They have the same right to do anything somehow in some cases males are stronger and more appropriate. Such as when they have to decide something quickly and have to lead. Female tends to use their irrational feeling; they will use more feelings than their logical minds then it will make they aren’t able to make great decision however female are still able to do something else and use their skills. They could be more creative than male and they also could be more carefully when they are doing their projects.
Next reason is there are a lot of high educated women that are ready for career. In fact there is no rule that forbid women not to get study in college. Many women are graduated until their Ph.D. degree. It shows us that women are also has desire to get high education. Then they realize that they would like to use their skill for career.
In 1999, there was a gap between males and females’ rates in the US of having achieved tenure twelve to fourteen years after receiving their Ph.D. This comparative finding focuses on that relatively small group of women who receive Ph.D.'s in the sciences. However it is also mentioned that marrying career women is asking for trouble because women will work at least 35 hours a week outside home. Some guys assume that career women tend to compete with them, ambitious, and spend almost their time outside and finally they forget about their basic roles then they will have new problem like “Works Versus Family”. They have to choose one of those choices. Well, in fact recent college graduate women express frustration regarding the obstacles they will face in combining career and family. Women in career will prefer not have babies since they will be vey busy with their works. Women in career also increase divorce problems. They will use almost their time outside and they will have chances to meet someone they like more than their spouses. Adrian J. Blow as a researcher wrote in the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy that the work environment provides a host of potential partners, and individual frequently find themselves spending a great deal of time with these individuals.
Career women prefer to choose stay single to get married. They think they will be able to use their time in achieving their goals, getting high income, and more chances to be success without any disturbing about family trouble. They also think they will lose their freedom if they get married.
Michael Noer in Forbes.com August 21, 2006 wrote an article titled “Don’t Marry Career Women”. He wrote about male bias which is actually also his bias to career women especially for married women, he tried to make his bias explicit by posting his article in reader forum through forbes.com.
He said “………Just, whatever you do, don't marry a woman with a career. Because if many social scientists are to be believed, you run a higher risk of having a rocky marriage. While everyone knows that marriage can be stressful, recent studies have found professional women are more likely to get divorced, more likely to cheat, less likely to have children, and, if they do have kids, they are more likely to be unhappy about it. A recent study in Social Forces, a research journal, found that women--even those with a "feminist" outlook--are happier when their husband is the primary breadwinner.”
However, it is also not good to have much busy with career especially for married women; they still have their basic roles as mothers and wives. Women can get jobs but still they don’t have to forget their basic roles; they can be career women but not have too much busy with their works. They can have jobs under their husbands’ working times. Overall, in my own opinion, married women are still able to get jobs since they do less than their spouses working times. Wives can work less than 35 hours a week. It is because of the high rates of talented women and it will be useless if they just stay at home. Just do housekeeping; taking care of kids and family is a boring thing to do if they don’t have anything else to do. I think husbands should give a limit time to their wives if they would like to work outside home, such as they have to be at home before their husbands come from working. It is just a matter of believing each other.
